The Day After Day After Christmas (3:10)
(Words/Music by Kevin Fagan ©2011)
On the day after day after Christmas,
I was thinking of all that’s gone bad
I was thinking of life and the journey,
And the times that we’ve never had
Between fighting and crying — living and dying
There’s supposed to be laughter and peace
But from all that I’ve seen of what’s in between
The ones who need most get the least
But they’ll sing Halle —
Halle — Hal-le-lu-jah
It always starts out oh, so hopeful
There’s all the presents and the cookies and cheer
We all say ‘I love you,’ and ‘How do you do’
But then look back over the year
There’s still millions without work, millions who are hurt
And no sign of any relief
And the ones who’re in charge, well, they’re living large
And don’t care if we crawl or we breathe
And they’ll sing Halle —
Halle — Hal-le-lu-jah
On the day after day after Christmas,
When the orgy of gifts is long done
The well-wishing is over, the visits are over,
we’re through with what’s ’sposed to be fun
Next up is New Year, and if we’re still here
Let’s hope that there’s laughter and peace
But from all that I’ve seen of what’s in between
Those who need the most will get the least
But they’ll sing Halle —
Halle — Hal-le-lu-jah
Bumping into an Angel (3:44)
(Words/Music by Lori Hawk ©2011)
This time of year when angels draw near
They blow into the town like the snow on the ground
And the wonders appear
This time of year when the air’s crisp and clear
It’s our light on their wings, makes the old angels sing
Of that first Christmas cheer
And you can’t walk far
Without following that star
You can barely ring a bell Without
Bumping into an angel
On the sidewalk
Bumping into an angel
Over small talk
Bumping into an angel
In the subway
Bumping into an angel
On Christmas day
This time of year when tidings of cheer
Come in from the cold with their stories of old
The shadows disappear
This time of year it’s the silent night we hear
And the spark in our souls lights the fire in the coals
And reminds us why we’re here
No, you won’t walk far
Without following that star
You can barely ring a bell without
Bumping into an angel
In a book shop
Bumping into an angel
At the bus stop
Bumping into an angel
In a café
Bumping into an angel
